The Blessing of Children

For 8 years I lived as a single young professional in Manhattan. Each and every day, usually more than once, I wondered when I would get my turn to fall in love and start a family.

After almost a decade of dating ups and downs, I got married at the age of 30. I was quite honestly shocked. I knew so many people who were still single at the time, many several years older than me. I didn’t think it was fair that they had to keep on their journey of searching for a life partner, wondering if/when they would start a family.

As I prepare to get together with a friend for our young children to have a play date, I realize again how truly fortunate I am. And I wonder how many are out there wishing they had a child whom they could take to a play date, or a child-centered event. Not to mention the deeper wants and yearnings of passing forth your legacy and giving all of your heart, mind, body, and soul to this precious miracle before you.
