Foundations of a Healthy Romantic Relationship

Last week a co-worker of mine expressed how valuable my role as a baby room teacher is. She said that by providing the babies with love and nurturing I am providing them with a foundation for healthy relationships in the future. In a previous post, I wrote about how I am grateful to provide nurturing human closeness to these babies, but I hadn’t yet seen it from my co-worker’s exact perspective.

I feel very fulfilled in this job, nurturing the physical and mental development of these children. To think that I am also contributing to them having healthy relationships: the ability to trust another human, to empathize with a fellow human—qualities key for a healthy long-term romantic relationship—well, that simply makes me elated.
