The Art of Non-Doing

At the end of my yoga sessions as I lie in savasana, I let go of the tension in all parts of my body and think, “Remember, things can happen WITHOUT you using so much force.” I strive to incorporate more non-doing into my life. Obviously, we have to put in our share of effort, but overexertion is not a goal. So I try to remind myself that things can work out well without my overdoing, without my overexerting.

I am still working on finding more of a balance in this way, but yesterday gave me some positive reinforcement toward this. A fellow teacher came up with a great idea for how to run the afternoon group at the preschool more efficiently. She thought of it. Not me. I was but the receiver of this great solution…Non-doing success!
