Social Media is NOT like Junk Food

Yes, as per previous post, a lot of aspects of social media are like junk food. Superficial feel-goods, without much deep nourishment to the soul.

But is that always the case?

Is that the only side of the coin?

No.

I feel connected to people with similar interests and passions to mine who I’ve found on various social media platforms.

It gives me a feeling that I am not alone. That I am part of a community.

That I am part of a movement (see post from earlier this week).

It’s an empowered feeling. An interconnectedness.

Really, all of us in this world are connected, on a metaphysical level.

So, when social media brings people together who are otherwise geographically separated—

well, that’s pretty awesome.
