When you wake up in the wee hours of the morning with memories of your father doing laundry and/or watching CNN at 3 am
When your 3 yo daughter cries to you the previous day she doesn’t want to go to school
When you cuddle her so tight
And you can tell afterwards that helped her feel safe and more relaxed
When you wonder why bother sending her to school everyday
Why play the game of “life makes sense”
When the sudden passing of your vibrant father 15 years ago BEGS to say otherwise
When you realize that the structure of the day-to-day is actually LOVE not RIGID RULES out to get you
RULES to make you feel safe
Cared for
Watched over
Not-alone
When you put one foot in front of the other When you send yourself compassion
When you accept yourself for what you are
And what you are not
Holding Space
