This morning, I was opening a window to hear the birds chirp. I thought I had unlocked it. I’m like pulling and pulling. I’m thinking, “Did the humidity cause it to get stuck?” I’m wondering if these windows decided to copy my previous’s home’s and be really hard to open. After a moment or so of exertion, I double check to see if they were indeed unlocked. They were not. So, I unlocked them and proceeded to pull them up and, Viola!, easy as pie.
Do you ever have trouble with something because of past patterns? Sort of like a self-fulfilling prophecy? Just retelling yourself the same stories over and over again, not being open to new experiences? Or trying out certain tasks with this inner voice going, “That’s not gonna work; don’t say I didn’t warn ya!”
That was me with those windows this morning. And, wouldn’t you know it, they ended up opening up just fine!
Later my kitty went through the window. It was the first time she used that exit. I saw her looking back a couple times to reacquaint herself with what had just occurred. She was confused, but also pleasantly surprised.
Another window metaphor! Sometimes we think we are stuck inside—stuck in a situation we can’t get out of. Perhaps there’s an opening there, a possibility for growth or expansion, and we just haven’t seen it yet.
