My prefrontal cortex is my receptionist. In making a to-do list in the morning, I lay out a reasonable plan for what I can do. If something comes up during the day that is not on that list, I jot it down for a different day, knowing that I already put in forethought to prioritizing what needed to get done that day.
In that way, my heart doesn’t get pulled into every task that pops into my head. I preserve my energy. And I’m also a lot happier, maintaining my center and the feeling of inner peace.
