One of the main lessons of mindfulness is that feelings, as well as thoughts, are fleeting. We must learn to ride their waves, instead of being engulfed by them.
I found it interesting that on Saturday as my daughter and I did art together, I had the desire to paint my nails—letting one layer dry before applying the next was a great hack. I was smudge free!
The next morning when I went to open a can of food for kitty, I almost forgot I had done my nails the day before. I quickly grabbed a fork to pry open the can’s handle. Even though I didn’t distinctly feel like having my nails painted anymore. I sure as heck didn’t want to chip them.
And did I feel like taking it off later that day altogether?
No, that didn’t speak to me either.
So here I am, Monday morning, bright-eyed and bushy-tailed at work, with nails that just happen to have polish on them.
Ain’t it the truth:
We do things in life and their physical/emotional mark may be more permanent than the feelings that led to their creation.
Happy Monday y’all. Keep on keeping on!
