Taught my kid to wrap
Her brain
Around the insane
To inject herself
Into what remains
From desolation and pain
Told her life’s anything but plain
To see the sun within the rain
From black and white to seek the gray
Better still, a rainbow shines her way
To see the magic in the everyday
Turn work into play
To see the world as her stage
To stay young at any age
Truth be told, she taught me the same
