They say water, or any liquid for that matter, takes the form of the container it resides in.
Thoughts are infinite. And if we think of thoughts like water, they can easily fill up our mind, and take the form of our mind. It’s no wonder we identify so much with them!
Mindfulness meditation is about maintaining a space in our minds where thoughts cannot reach. Much like a No Boys Allowed sign on a treehouse. But with a much gentler, kinder feel, as mindfulness dictates.
Maybe the space is for us to go hang out in sometimes, like the couch in our student lounge in high school.
Or other times, it’s just there, hanging out, being a space. No expectations.
Just chilling for the next time someone needs it.
